I’ve heard of something called the “inverted gospel” where you get GOD to follow after you instead of you following after God. If God is following after you, then He’s trying to get you to repent. If you are following after God, then He’s trying to get you to Heaven. On every piece of currency in America it states “In God We Trust” and that is the way it should be. But, when you invert the gospel (turning it inside out) you are essentially working to get God to trust you and then you’ll tell Him what you want Him to do.

When I was just writing the previous line I stumbled in my writing because it was wrong! No America! No World! No Cosmos! We don’t have God following us around. We are to walk in the footsteps of Jesus; a path that has already been drawn for us. We walk in the light of God’s word. Too many of us are looking back to see if Jesus is following us to places in our hearts that we know He doesn’t want us to go. Let’s stop dragging God around; hoping, not in faith, but hoping that He will somehow obey our command instead of the other way around, we obey His.

We have a banner in our worship center that reads “Take God at His word”. The gospel of Jesus teaches that He is our leader and He will lead us to Heaven, “a place that we know not of.” (John 14:5) It looks kind of strange trying to lead Jesus to a place you have never been. He’s been there. As a matter of fact, He is Heaven and God brought it down to earth for you and me. So’ let’s live lives that cause the Spirit to want to lead us to Heaven, let’s not grieve the Holy Spirit which is the spirit of God.

God has a plan, let Him lead you where He wants you to go. I know that can be very difficult, but if you allow Him to lead, you will never lose. Jesus said, “if you find your life in this world you will lose it, but if you lose your life in this world for My sake than you will find it.” That promise in not only that you will go to Heaven, but you will, “have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10) here on earth.
